Ask the Librarian

Library staff will guide you to the collections that you will need for your research, circulation services, reference services, online information services, you may have limited photocopying of library materials. Services include the use of wireless network, loan of materials, research services, interlibrary loan, or other privileges and services granted to primary users. CMAL personnel have first priority at all times. The Library will provide a Document Supply service and support reciprocal visiting and borrowing arrangements with other libraries, to allow our members to access material not held at CMAL. Some of our services are but not limited to:

Library Services

The library services / facilities include Circulation Service, Reference Service, Online reservation of books, Recommendation of library material, Current Awareness Service, Photocopying, Scanning Printing Service, Orientation and Information Sessions, One-on-one consultations with a librarian, Research Queries and Internet Access.

Library materials are borrowed and returned at the circulation desk, which is located near the main entrance. Reserved books, periodicals, reference books can be used with in library.

Library provides reference and referral service to its users. Queries are answered using all possible sources. If the required information source is not available / accessible at CMA Library, the users are referred to other libraries where the required information may be available.

Library users can reserve any book using our online Integrated library system (KOHA) if it is already issued. Reserved books are not reissued. Library user is automatically informed through email when a reserved book is returned and the same is held at circulation desk for two days. If the reserved book is not collected within two days, it is issued to other users or shelved.

We welcome faculty, staff, students and other members to recommend any material, which can add value to our library collection. Purchase of recommended items is subject to approval and availability of funds. However, we try our best to honour all recommendations of our valued library members.

Library members are regularly informed about the recent acquisitions in the library. A list of "NEW ARRIVALS" will be is shown on the library’s website.

Photocopying, scanning and printing facility is available at the library.

The library's orientation and information program extend the role of library in ensuring that users make the most effective use of library resources. The program is designed to educate the faculty members, students, and staff in locating printed and electronic knowledge resources to fulfil their information needs. This service is provided on individual and group basis.

This section is established in library with the computers equipped with our online database, search engines and internet facilities. These are available so that users can have better access to the information resources in digital format.

This can be done in collaboration with the librarian as well as the research Unit at the CMA HQ. finding help for the right material to complete your research assignments and the steps to take.

The Ask a Librarian email reference service is provided to CMAL users with mission-related inquiries that are brief or factual in nature. In most cases we will respond to questions within two working days. You may submit a question anytime! Please use this form to submit your inquiry. Please see the specific information we request below. It is not necessary to address every point; however, we can most effectively help you if you provide us with as many details as possible.
